Ruhrpumpen and Wolong partner in the development of pumping equipment for the Missan Oil Field in Iraq
Ruhrpumpen will expand its German pump testing facility in Witten.
Ruhrpumpen's engineering team designed a vertical molten salt pump for a concentrated solar power plant developed by Yumen Xinneng.
Pumps for water desalination
Over the last 30 years, desalination has grown to be a viable and sustainable alternative supply of water for the growing demand for potable water for human consumption, agricultural irrigation or industrial use.
From salt to tap water, we are committed to the development of cost-effective and environmentally friendly pumping technologies that improve the water access and quality for communities around the world.
Pumps for all services in desalination plants
- High-pressure membrane feed pumps
- Source water intake pumps
- Booster pumps
- Filter backwash pumps
- Chemical dosing pumps
- Brine circulation pumps
- Distillate extraction pumps
- Cooling seawater pumps
- Potable water transfer pumps
- Energy recovery devices [see VTG pump]
Our pumps can be found on desalination plants that use different methods, such as:
- Reverse osmosis
- Multi-stage flash distillation
- Multi-effect distillation
Pumps for desalination in reverse osmosis plants
The most common method of desalination, reverse osmosis is a process by which salt is removed from sea or brackish water through filtration. Salt water is pumped at a high pressures through semipermeable membranes that impede almost completely the passage of salts, thus obtaining fresh water.
Ruhrpumpen can provide pumps for seawater intake, pre-treatment and transfer, as well as high-pressure feeding pumps for the reverse osmosis membranes, with great energy efficiency and corrosion-resistant materials.
Municipal water and wastewater pumps
Municipalities require reliable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly equipment for pumping of clean water and the proper disposal of wastewater. In Ruhrpumpen, we offer water management pumping solutions for the transportation and distribution of potable water, the treatment and reuse of wastewater, and storm and flood water disposal.
- Municipal water pumps
- Municipal wastewater pumps
- Booster pumps for municipal water
- Municipal sewage pumps
Throughout the whole water cycle in municipalities, our cost-effective pumps guarantee a long life-cycle with minimum maintenance. From raw water intake, to its treatment and distribution, flood control and drainage, wastewater collection and treatment, our municipal pumps ensure water is available where it is needed.
We are your single source supplier... whether you need a new pump, support on installation, spare parts or repair of an existing pump, our Global Service Network is ready to assist you throughout the entire process.
Pumps for municipal infrastructure
Our municipal pumps include vertical turbine pumps, submersible pumps, booster pumps, vertical sump pumps, double suction split case pumps, end suction centrifugal pumps, and many others.
Vertical turbine water pump [VTP]

Engineered to customer specifications, this vertically suspended multi-stage water pump provides first-class service as a well water pump for water supply systems and dewatering pump in construction sites and mines.
Vertical circulating pump [VCT]
Self-priming centrifugal water pump [SWP]

The SWP pump is a self-priming pump perfect for solids handling applications. Its applications include sewage water pump and waste water pump in industries such as paper, construction and automotive.
Municipal wastewater pump [SKV]

A centrifugal pump with three cannel impeller, suitable for pumping activated sludge as well as rain, raw and mixed water. Available for vertical and horizontal installations.
Water sump pump [VSP]

The VSP pump is a vertical sump pump with a semi-open impeller, designed for clean water pumping. A non-clog model is also available for solids handling applications such as drainage and flood control.
Submersible water pump [SMF]

This vertical submersible mixed flow pump for installation in a steel tube or a concrete well perfect for water processing applications.
