Fire Systems Seminars in Argentina

RUHRPUMPEN Fire Division with the intention of doing business better and easier for our customers has dedicated many hours traveling and standing face to face with thousands of engineers around the world.

During last month, our team in Argentina organized two Seminars on Fire Systems and NFPA-20, with the special visit of our expert José Ogushi as speaker. More than 150 people participated and acquired valuable information about UL/FM, NFPA-20 and the main features of fire pump systems.

Also we had the opportunity to guide and show our UL & FM certified location to customers that have on-going projects with us.

Mexico, a land in flames due to urban fires

In Mexico, urban fires have increased drastically in the last decade, causing human and material losses, as well as environmental damage.
According to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), environmental fires increase 10 percent annually and occur more frequently than earthquakes and hurricanes.
Annually, more than 95 thousand urban and non-urban fires are registered, an average of 260 per day throughout the country.
Of these, 55.6 percent occur in buildings and condominiums, 34.1 percent in businesses, 21.1 percent in single-family homes, 3 percent in hotels and motels, 3 percent in industries and 4 percent in other buildings.

Fires are also responsible for 31 percent of disasters in Mexico and cause 26.9 percent of all associated mortality (smoke, toxic gases, etc.).
These fires also have a great impact on society. In the last 10 years, more than 6,000 people died in Mexico as a result of exposure to uncontrolled fire in construction, ignition of highly flammable materials, explosions or contact with hot liquids (beverages and food). The most affected were vulnerable groups, minors and the elderly.
According to the National Health and Nutrition Survey (ENSANUT), 124,000 people in Mexico suffered non-fatal burns each year, and for every person who dies, 220 people survive, but are left with damage that affect their daily lives.

Did you know that...

– The heat from a fire alone is enough to kill. It can get as hot as 315 degrees Celsius at eye level , hot enough to scorch your lungs if you breathe it in and to melt the clothes you’re wearing into your skin.
